Two Prayers and a Coda

Slow my hand, dear God,

and slow my mind.

Slow my heart

and its desires.

Make being mine,

so I hold cold no less than heat,

loss no less than gain,

self no less than other.

Gather me deep, dear God,

and gather me wide.

Gather my many selves,

distant and near.

Bid them rest

each in the other,

so peace abides where

strife now reigns.

And finally, dear God,

help me follow

that being and peace

wherever it leads.
